    What is RPM?

The pond liner UK builders trust for life.

A reinforced polymer membrane — RPM — is a flexible pond liner built around a woven scrim sandwiched between two polyolefin skins. That internal weave is what sets a reinforced pond liner apart from rubber or unsupported PVC: it carries the load, resists tear propagation, and lets the sheet stay thin without losing strength. At 0.7 mm our RPM weighs roughly a third of a comparable EPDM yet handles higher puncture forces in independent testing. The same membrane scales from small garden ponds to agricultural, golf-course and lake applications across the UK.

Who an RPM pond liner suits

Because the membrane drapes cleanly into corners and shelves, one material covers the whole spectrum of UK pond projects. Wildlife pools benefit from the soft, fish-safe surface that encourages oxygenators and invertebrates to colonise. Koi keepers get welded seams that hold pristine water chemistry. Formal, geometric ponds keep crisp edges thanks to the membrane's dimensional stability, and lined reservoirs up to several hundred square metres can be panel-welded on site. If you're sizing a build, the free pond liner calculator gives an accurate sheet size in seconds.

    Why reinforcement beats raw thickness

It's tempting to assume a thicker liner is automatically a tougher one. In practice, tear and puncture resistance come from the scrim, not the millimetre count. A 1.0 mm unreinforced rubber sheet will stretch and thin under a sharp stone; a 0.7 mm reinforced membrane spreads that load across the weave and keeps its wall thickness intact. The result is a lighter roll that's easier to handle, a fish-safe pond liner that won't leach plasticisers, and a 45-year expected lifespan.
